HalallO for Business Terms

Last updated 25 October 2026For restaurant owners and managers
Draft — pending legal review.This text describes how HalallO works today but has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Details in [brackets] are still to be filled in.

The agreement between HalallO and restaurants that claim and manage their listing, including plans, billing and the rule that money never touches halal evidence.

1.About these terms

These HalallO for Business Terms (the “Business Terms”) are an agreement between [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], a company registered under number [COMPANY NUMBER] with its registered office at [REGISTERED ADDRESS] (“HalallO”, “we”, “us”), and the business you represent (“you”). They apply when you claim, manage or pay for a restaurant listing through business.halallo.com or the business features of the HalallO app (together, “HalallO for Business”).

Your HalallO account is the same account you use in the HalallO app, so the HalallO Terms of Use also apply. If the two conflict on a business matter, these Business Terms win.

By ticking the box when you create an account, by submitting a claim or by using HalallO for Business, you accept these Business Terms. You confirm that you are at least 18 and that you are authorised to act for the restaurant and to bind the business to these terms. If you are not, do not use HalallO for Business.

2.Words we use

  • Listing: the page for a restaurant location in the HalallO app and on HalallO websites.
  • Member: a person approved to manage a listing, as an owner or a manager authorised by the owner.
  • Business Content: what you add to a listing: hours, phone, website, description, menu, prices, photos, reservation settings, replies and statements.
  • Halal evidence: certificates, registers, statements, community confirmations and disputes that HalallO shows about a listing, with their sources.
  • Paid Plan: Pro, and the Sponsored add-on, as described on the pricing section.

3.Your account

  • Give accurate information and keep it current, including a phone number our team can reach.
  • Keep your password secret and don’t share your account. Each person who manages a listing uses their own account.
  • You are responsible for what happens in your account and for the people you authorise as managers.
  • Tell us straight away at support@halallo.com if you think someone else has access to your account. You can sign out on every device from the Account page.

4.Claiming and verification

To manage a listing you must claim it and we must approve the claim. We offer these ways to show the restaurant is yours:

  • Business email: a 6-digit code sent to an address on the registrable domain of the website on the listing. Free mail providers and website-hosting platforms can’t be used.
  • Documents and photo: your name, a contact phone number, a declaration that you are authorised, at least one business document (such as a licence, registration, hygiene certificate, or a utility bill or lease in the restaurant’s name) and at least one photo proof, which may include a one-time claim code we give you.
  • Other methods, such as a code sent to the phone number on the listing, may be added later.

Every claim is reviewed by a person. Nothing is approved automatically, even after a correct code. We may call the phone number on the listing, ask for more information, or compare your documents with public records. We do not ask for a photo ID.

To prevent abuse we limit claims: for example one open claim per person per restaurant, a small number of open claims per account, fewer claims for new accounts, a waiting period after a rejected claim, and limits per network address. We may refuse, cancel or reverse a claim if we reasonably believe it is inaccurate, if someone else has a stronger claim, or if these Business Terms are broken. If two people claim the same restaurant, we may freeze owner tools until the dispute is resolved and ask both for documents.

We may ask you to verify again, for example once a year, when the phone number or website on the listing changes, or when ownership changes. When a restaurant changes hands, halal evidence for that location may be marked “Ownership changed”, because a new owner may change suppliers.

5.Accurate information

Diners rely on your listing. You agree to:

  • keep opening hours, phone, website, menu and prices accurate and to update them when they change;
  • only add photos you have the right to use, that show your restaurant, food or menu, and that don’t show people who haven’t agreed to be shown;
  • not make halal claims in your description, menu or photos (for example “100% halal certified”). Halal statements and certificates go through halal evidence review, where they are shown with their source and date;
  • not use the listing to advertise other businesses, collect personal data from diners, or post anything that breaks the Content and Conduct Policy.

Prices and menus are information for diners, not offers that HalallO makes. You are responsible for the food and service you provide, and for complying with the laws that apply to your business.

6.What you can and can’t change

  • You publish directly: hours, phone, website (https only), description, menu and prices, photos and their order, and reservation settings. We check these for format and may moderate them.
  • You can request: changes to the restaurant’s name, address or map position. Our team reviews them, because a new address can mean a different kitchen and different evidence.
  • Nobody can buy or edit: halal evidence and its labels, reviews and ratings, community questions and answers, conflict flags, and the order of organic results. You may reply where we offer replies, report content, and submit counter-evidence, which is reviewed like anyone else’s.

7.Your content and our licence

You keep ownership of your Business Content. You give HalallO a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable (to our service providers and successors) licence to host, store, copy, resize, crop, re-encode, translate, publish and display your Business Content in the HalallO app, on HalallO websites and in materials that promote HalallO or your listing, for as long as it is on HalallO and for a reasonable time afterwards to remove it from caches and backups.

You confirm that you own or are licensed to use your Business Content, that you have permission from anyone identifiable in your photos, and that it doesn’t infringe anyone’s rights or break the law. We remove location data and other metadata from restaurant photos, and we may refuse, edit for format, label or remove Business Content that breaks these terms.

When you stop managing a listing, the listing stays on HalallO. Facts you added (such as hours and phone) may remain because diners rely on them. You can ask us to remove photos you uploaded; see Copyright, Photo Removal and Corrections.

8.Halal evidence is independent of payment

This is the rule HalallO is built on, and it is part of our agreement with you:

  • Paying for any plan never changes halal evidence, how it is labelled, how fast it is reviewed, or who reviews it. Reviewers don’t see whether a restaurant pays.
  • Paying never changes where you appear on the map, in the Nearby list or in organic search results. Those use distance, opening hours, relevance, evidence, rating and freshness.
  • The only paid placement is a slot labelled “Sponsored”, which shows the same evidence line as everywhere else.
  • You can’t pay to hide or reorder reviews, questions, conflicts or competitors, and our sales team never discusses specific reviews or evidence with you.
  • Owners and staff may not review or rate their own restaurant, or offer anything in exchange for reviews or ratings.

Read How Halal Information Works for the details.

9.Plans and prices

  • Free: claim and manage your listing. Free features stay free.
  • Pro: US$39 per month or US$390 per year per location, adding the Reserve button and other features marked Pro. Features marked “Coming soon” are not part of what you pay for until they launch.
  • Founding offer: the first 50 restaurants in Manhattan that subscribe to Pro pay US$19 per month for their first 12 months. After 12 months the then-current Pro price applies unless you cancel. The offer ends if you cancel or switch plans.
  • Sponsored: an add-on at US$149 per month per slot (one neighbourhood and time window). Each slot needs our approval, see section 14.

Prices are in US dollars and do not include taxes. We may change prices for future billing periods with at least 30 days’ notice by email; the change applies from your next renewal after the notice period, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

10.Billing and automatic renewal

Billing has not launched yet. Until it does, nothing is charged and this section describes how it will work.

  • Paid Plans are bought on the web (business.halallo.com), not in the app. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. or its affiliates; card details go to Stripe and are not stored by HalallO. Stripe’s own terms apply to the payment.
  • Paid Plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price until you cancel. We remind you before a yearly plan renews where the law requires it.
  • If a payment fails, we retry it and tell you. After a 7-day grace period Pro features switch off until payment succeeds. Sponsored slots pause as soon as a payment fails. Nothing you added is deleted when a plan ends.
  • Invoices and receipts are available in the billing portal.

11.Cancellation and refunds

  • You can cancel a Paid Plan at any time in the billing portal or by emailing business@halallo.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep the paid features until then.
  • Fees already paid are not refundable, except where the law requires a refund, where we end a Paid Plan for our own convenience (we refund the unused part), or where a Sponsored slot is paused because the restaurant stopped being eligible (you receive pro-rated credit).
  • If you are a consumer under the law of your country, you may have additional rights, which these terms don’t limit.

12.Taxes

Prices exclude sales tax, VAT and similar taxes. Where we are required to collect them, we add them to your invoice based on your billing address. You are responsible for any other taxes that apply to your purchase.

13.Reservations (Pro)

With Pro you can show a Reserve button on your listing:

  • External link: the button opens your own booking page (for example OpenTable, Resy, Tock, SevenRooms, your website or WhatsApp). You confirm the link is yours and works; the booking is between you and the diner under that provider’s terms.
  • Requests through HalallO (coming soon): diners send a request with a party size, time, name, phone number and optional note; you confirm or decline. HalallO only passes messages and is not a party to the booking. You may use the diner’s details only to handle that booking, and we delete the phone number and note after a short retention period. If several requests expire unanswered we may switch the button back to “Call”.

By turning reservations on you give HalallO your written permission to list your restaurant’s reservations and to pass booking requests to you, including for the purposes of laws that require a restaurant’s agreement before its reservations are listed (such as New York’s Restaurant Reservation Anti-Piracy Act). We never sell or transfer bookings. We charge no commission and no per-cover or per-booking fee.

15.Prohibited conduct

You must not, and must not help anyone else to:

  • claim a restaurant you don’t own or aren’t authorised to manage, or submit forged or altered documents;
  • post false or misleading information, including halal claims, certificates or certifiers you know are not genuine;
  • write, buy, sell or incentivise reviews or ratings, review your own or a competitor’s restaurant, or pressure diners about their reviews;
  • harass diners, reviewers, competitors or our staff, or use diners’ personal information for anything other than handling their booking or question;
  • scrape, copy or resell HalallO data, access HalallO by automated means, probe or bypass its security, or interfere with it;
  • break any law, including consumer, advertising, food labelling, privacy and anti-spam laws.

16.Suspension and termination

We may limit, suspend or remove your access to HalallO for Business, remove Business Content, or end a membership if you break these Business Terms, if we are required to by law, or if your use puts diners, other businesses or HalallO at risk. As a guide, three upheld moderation actions in 90 days suspend owner publishing for 30 days. The listing stays up and its halal evidence is not affected. Where reasonable we tell you why and let you respond first.

You can stop managing a listing at any time by asking us, and you can delete your account in the HalallO app (Settings → Delete account). Sections that by their nature should survive (such as the content licence, payment obligations already due, limitation of liability and indemnity) survive the end of this agreement.

17.Personal data

How we handle personal data about you is described in the Privacy Notice for Business Users. When you receive personal data of diners through HalallO (for example a reservation request), you handle it as an independent controller, only for the purpose it was shared, securely, and in line with the law. HalallO only ever shares totals, never individual diners, in insights.

18.Disclaimers

HalallO for Business is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will bring you any number of diners or bookings, or that information shown by others is accurate. HalallO does not certify restaurants as halal.

19.Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill or data. Each party’s total liability arising from these Business Terms in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the fees you paid HalallO in that period or US$100.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for your payment obligations, for your indemnity, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

20.Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify HalallO, its officers and staff against claims, losses and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from your Business Content, your restaurant’s food and services, your handling of diners’ personal data, or your breach of these Business Terms.

21.Changes to these terms

We may update these Business Terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you by email or in the panel at least 30 days before it takes effect (or sooner where the law or security requires). If you keep using HalallO for Business after that, the updated terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can cancel your Paid Plan and stop using HalallO for Business before the change takes effect.

22.Governing law and disputes

These Business Terms are governed by [GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION], and the courts named there have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law of your country gives you a right to bring proceedings elsewhere. Before starting proceedings, please contact us at business@halallo.com so we can try to resolve the dispute within 30 days.

23.General

  • These Business Terms, together with the documents they refer to, are the whole agreement between us about HalallO for Business.
  • You may not transfer this agreement without our consent. We may transfer it to a company that takes over HalallO, and we will tell you.
  • If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • Neither party is responsible for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
  • We send notices to the email on your account; you send notices to business@halallo.com.
